Are you interested in a unique resource which integrates quality tools, reading and music? We have developed a resource which integrates music and literacy within the framework of the High Performance Model. Utilizing the concepts developed for "Getting to the Fifth Q", this resource capitalizes on these concepts and, using original songs and books, integrates them into literacy activities for young children. We know that children learn to read best when the learning is fun and meaningful. Learning that print has a purpose is extremely important. We believe the connection between the language children hear and the language children see is very powerful. This learning experience is titled, "Singing To Read" and is based on children hearing(and singing) songs and then seeing(and reading) the language written down.
Learning Outcomes:

- To provide a 40 minute musical performance of original music which emphasizes the magic in reading and believing in oneself.
- To provide 30 minute Performance Application Sessions... hands-on follow-up activities to performance in six Pre-Kindergarten – 1st grade classrooms with "On-the-Job" overview training for teachers in integrating "Getting to the Fifth Q" quality tool concepts as an outgrowth of the music experience.
- "To Touch A Rainbow" - Performance Only
- To provide a 40 minute musical performance of original music which emphasizes the magic in music and books and highlights strong positive self-concept message.
Audience: Maximum of 350 Pre-Kindergarten – 1st grade children. Maximum of 6 PreKindergarten-1st grade classrooms per day scheduled for Performance Application Sessions. (Performance may include 2nd grade classrooms, however, follow-up sessions involve only Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade.)
Length: Minimum 1 day – additional days determined by size/needs/interests of school.

One (1) Singing To Read Packet includes one (1) CD of the song; five (5) Read Along SongBooks; one (1) PictureTalk Book; and a Singing To Read Q Card with tools and activities and black line masters for early learners associated with the song. A Singing To Read Packet can be purchased for Big Brown Bear; Little Train; or Wayne The Snail.
